Members of the Association of Sickle Cell Patients in Bauchi State paid a visit to the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation today, seeking collaboration and support for programs aimed at improving the lives of individuals living with sickle cell disease in the state.

The delegation, led by the association’s President, Blessing Rapson, highlighted the challenges faced by sickle cell patients, including limited access to medication, frequent health crises, and financial hardships. The group appealed to the foundation for assistance in funding medical outreach programs, subsidizing treatment costs, and raising public awareness about sickle cell prevention and management.

During the meeting, the association emphasized the urgent need for community support, stating that many patients struggle to afford basic healthcare services. They commended Wunti Al-Khair Foundation for its previous humanitarian interventions and expressed hope that the foundation would extend its generosity to sickle cell initiatives.

A representative of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, Abbas Muhammad, acknowledged the critical nature of the request and assured the delegation that their proposal would be reviewed promptly. The foundation reiterated its commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable groups and promised to explore ways to support the association’s efforts.

Sickle cell disease remains a major public health concern in Nigeria, with Bauchi State recording a high prevalence rate. Stakeholders believe that partnerships between nonprofit organizations and patient groups can significantly reduce the burden of the disease through education, early diagnosis, and improved care.

The association is optimistic that the foundation’s support will help enhance medical services and advocacy for sickle cell patients across the state.
