The EmpowerHer Initiative of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation (WAKF) successfully hosted its June monthly webinar themed “Health, Rights and Advocating for Yourself” as part of ongoing efforts to empower women and girls with knowledge, confidence, and practical self-advocacy skills.
Held virtually, the webinar brought together participants from diverse backgrounds for an engaging and interactive learning session focused on personal wellbeing, healthcare rights, and the importance of speaking up for oneself in both personal and professional spaces.

The session was facilitated by Suwaiba Abdulrasheed Iliyas, a trained medical radiographer and advocate with experience in health communication, storytelling, and social impact. Drawing from her professional and advocacy experience, she guided participants through discussions on holistic wellbeing, including physical, mental, emotional, and social health.
During the webinar, participants were encouraged to better understand their rights, seek accurate information, ask questions confidently, and advocate for themselves in situations affecting their health and overall wellbeing. The facilitator also highlighted the importance of confidence, informed decision-making, and access to supportive environments for young women and girls.
The session featured active audience participation, with attendees sharing personal perspectives, asking questions, and engaging in discussions around self-confidence, healthcare experiences, and practical ways to navigate challenges affecting women and girls. The webinar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session that allowed participants to reflect on key lessons and identify ways to apply them in their daily lives.
