BAUCHI, Nigeria — April 13, 2026 — The Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, in partnership with the Zee Tech Foundation and the Bauchi State Bureau of ICT, has successfully concluded the 2026 Girls in ICT Demo Day, marking a significant step toward advancing digital inclusion among young girls in the state.
The event, held at Mac Dallas, brought together 29 secondary school girls from nine schools who had just completed a two-week intensive mentorship program focused on design thinking, innovation, and prototyping.
Showcasing Innovation and Problem-Solving
During the Demo Day, participants—organized into teams—presented nine innovative prototypes aimed at solving real-life societal challenges. The students pitched their ideas before a panel of judges, demonstrating not only technical knowledge but also critical thinking and teamwork skills acquired during the training.
At the end of the presentations, three outstanding teams were recognized for the creativity and feasibility of their solutions. They received cash prizes of ₦100,000, ₦75,000, and ₦50,000 respectively.
Driving Digital Inclusion
Organizers highlighted that the initiative was designed to address key developmental goals, including promoting digital literacy among girls, bridging the gender gap in technology, and encouraging active participation in the digital economy.
Representatives from the Bauchi State Bureau of ICT and the Young Leaders Network delivered goodwill messages, stressing that empowering girls with digital skills is essential for inclusive growth and national development.
Positive Outcomes and Future Directions
Program coordinators reported noticeable improvements in participants’ confidence, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Teachers also observed that the mentorship-driven, hands-on learning approach proved more effective than traditional classroom methods.
Despite the success, stakeholders noted areas for improvement, including extending the duration of mentorship programs and expanding participation to reach more schools, particularly in underserved communities.
The event concluded with a call for stronger collaboration with technology organizations to sustain and scale initiatives that promote girls’ digital education in Bauchi State.
