In preparation for the upcoming Eid festivities, the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation has organized a specialized refresher training on crowd management for its volunteers, aimed at ensuring orderly and secure gatherings during the celebrations.
The one-day workshop, titled “Enhancing Volunteerism for Safer Eid Gatherings,” equipped participants with essential skills in crowd control, emergency response, and conflict resolution. Held at Kofar Fada Jumma’at Mosque Bauchi, the training brought together over 80 volunteers who will oversee key Eid prayer grounds and public events across the city.
Facilitated by experts in public safety and event management, the session included practical drills on guiding large crowds, handling medical emergencies, and coordinating with security agencies. Volunteers were also trained in effective communication techniques to assist elderly worshippers and families with children.
“Eid is a time of joy, but large gatherings can pose safety challenges,” said Barr. Umar Magaji , the foundation’s legal officer. “This training ensures our volunteers are prepared to create a peaceful environment for everyone.”
Participants praised the initiative, noting its timely relevance. “The skills we’ve learned today will help us serve the community better and prevent accidents,” said one of the volunteers.
The Wunti Al-Khair Foundation has a track record of supporting religious and social events, including annual Ramadan and Eid programs. This year’s crowd management training reflects its commitment to proactive community service.
Authorities have lauded the effort, urging other organizations to adopt similar measures for public safety during festive periods.
