Wunti Al-Khair Foundation Supports the 5th Annual Bauchi Spelling Bee Competition to Promote Academic Excellence

The 5th Annual Bauchi Spelling Bee Competition showcased its commitment to strengthening spelling skills, English language proficiency, and academic excellence among students in Bauchi State. The competition has remained a vital platform for identifying and nurturing young spelling talents across the state.

The 2025 edition of the competition was held from 3rd to 4th January, 2026 at the ASUP Secretariat Hall, ATAPOLY, Bauchi. It recorded the participation of 250 students drawn from public, private, and homeschooled institutions across the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State. Contestants competed in three categories: Primary (79 participants), Junior (91 participants), and Senior (80 participants).

Organized by the Bauchi Spelling Bee Competition Committee, the program was co-sponsored by Wunti Al-Khair Foundation.

The competition featured several challenging rounds designed to test spelling accuracy, confidence, and language mastery. These rounds included forward spelling, double forward spelling, backward spelling, forward–consonant–vowel spelling, as well as the quarter-final, semi-final, and final stages.

At the end of the competition, outstanding students emerged as winners across all categories. In the Senior Category, Mustapha Tijjani Muhd of Mato Lukshi Memorial Academy, Dass, emerged as Champion, while Divine favour Samuel Akoko of Makama Nursery/Primary & Secondary School, Bauchi, and Mubashshir Oladimeji Kabir of Badala Academy, Azare, finished as first and second runners-up respectively.

The Junior Category was won by Amatullah Abdulrasheed of Minaret International School, Bauchi. She was followed by Mahmud Sa’ad Haladu of Badala Academy, Azare, as first runner-up, and Aliyu Sani Shitu from the homeschooled category as second runner-up.

In the Primary Category, Abdulhamid Salisu Baba of Misau Model Academy emerged as Champion, with Muhammad Abdulmajid Isah of Minaret International School, Bauchi, and Amina Jamilu Maiauduga of Dee-Coddle Private School, Bauchi, taking the first and second runner-up positions respectively.

Winners were rewarded with cash prizes of ₦50,000 for champions, ₦30,000 for first runners-up, and ₦20,000 for second runners-up, in addition to medals and awards presented to both students and outstanding coaches.

The event was attended by the Foundation’s Director of Programs Mr. Ango Mustapah, along with Program Officer, Education, Miss Fatima Aliyu Adamu. Also in attendance were key education stakeholders and dignitaries, including representatives from the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, SUBEB, and LEA, the CEO of Lolar Catar for Needy Foundation, leadership of NAPPS, the NUBASS President, school coaches, students, and other distinguished guests.
