In a remarkable humanitarian gesture, the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation,in partnership with Albasar International Foundation, has sponsored free eye treatments for hundreds of visually impaired patients in Bauchi State, providing hope and restoring sight to many in need.
The medical outreach, held at the Makka Eye Hospital, saw a team of ophthalmologists and medical personnels conduct free eye screenings, cataract surgeries, and distribution of medicated glasses to patients suffering from various eye conditions. Over 500 beneficiaries, including elderly men and women, children, and persons with disabilities, received critical eye care services at no cost.
Barr. Umar Magaji, the foundation’s Legal Officer, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating: "Vision is a priceless gift, and no one should suffer from preventable blindness due to lack of access to healthcare. Through this program, we aim to give people a second chance to see clearly and live more productive lives."
One of the beneficiaries, Malam Haruna Adamu, 65, who had been visually impaired for three years due to cataracts, regained his sight after a successful surgery. Overwhelmed with joy, he said, "I never thought I would see again. Today, I can recognize my family and move around without help. Allah ya ja zaman Wunti Al-Khair Foundation!"
The free eye treatment campaign is part of Wunti Al-Khair Foundation’s broader health intervention programs, which include medical outreaches, drug donations, and support for vulnerable patients across Northern Nigeria.
The foundation has pledged to expand its medical outreach to other states, reaffirming its commitment to alleviating suffering and improving the quality of life for underprivileged Nigerians.
