Wunti Al-Khair Foundation Launches Empower Initiative

Powered by Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, the EmpowerHer Initiative was successfully launched on February 11, 2025. The initiative aims to inspire and empower young girls in secondary schools to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Leadership and Entrepreneurship. The launch event brought about more than 150 female students in various secondary schools, as well as educators, professionals, and stakeholders passionate about bridging the gender gap in STEM fields.
The EmpowerHer Initiative was unveiled at a high-profile ceremony attended by government officials, technology hubs, and education activists. The initiative targets girls aged 10-18, particularly amongst underprivileged communities where access to technology remains limited.
Speaking at the launch, the Foundation’s Director Of Programs Mr. Ango Mustapha, emphasized the importance of the initiative:
"Digital literacy is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. By empowering our girls with tech skills, we are not only bridging the gender gap but also preparing them for future job markets. The EmpowerHer Initiative will ensure that no girl is left behind in the digital revolution."
Major tech hubs, including Zee Tech Hub and Nascomsoft Embedded, have pledged partnerships and collaboration to help for the success of the program.
Also speaking, a Lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi - Department of Computer Science - Mrs Zainab Aliyu Musa opined that they guide
their students on the importance of STEM. Emphasizing that Ladies should be the main source of motivation for girls.
