In the spirit of love, unity, and shared humanity, the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation (WAKF) has donated over 4,500 bags of 25kg rice to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for distribution across 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State as part of activities marking the 2025 Christmas celebration.
The donation, aimed at supporting vulnerable Christian families and promoting peaceful coexistence, was formally handed over to representatives of CAN, who commended the Foundation for its gesture of goodwill and inclusiveness.
Speaking during the presentation, the foundation’s director of Programmes, Mustapha Ango, said the initiative was designed to touch the lives of vulnerable people during the Yuletide.
To him, it is the season of celebrations and it is part of the organisation’s community engagement and development efforts.
“It is the season of Christmas and it is the season of giving, sharing, and caring,” he said.
Ango said that the gesture was part of Bala Wunti’s contributions to ignite hope among his people.
“He is known for sharing and for being compassionate among his people, and we deem it fit to distribute these food items to Christian community during the season of Christmas, to relieve them from some of the hardship in food items, for them to have a joyous celebration during the season.”
He said that there are some people that might not be able to afford what to eat during the season, “and the Bible encourages us to share, to give, blessed are those that giveth, than those that receiveth”.
The donated food items are to be distributed across 20 Local Government Areas, ensuring that families in both urban and rural communities benefit from the intervention during the festive period.
Chairman of CAN, Bauchi State, Reverend Abraham Dimeus, said CAN has commenced the distribution to various local councils for immediate pickup by the beneficiaries.
“Everything we do here is under the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation –which is apolitical, our goal is to improve the livelihood of our people.
“We do this during Ramadan, the Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and then our Chairman and founder, who is someone that does good to all people at all times, we do this to extend the hand of fellowship to our Christian community as well,” he said.
The CAN chairman who was represented by the state treasurer, Pastor Promise Nuhu Yohanna, applauded the Foundation for the gesture.
He added that the foundation has done similar gestures in the past year. Also, the christian community of wunti area that consist of mainly traders and shopowners benefitted from the kind gesture.
The donation exercise forms part of Wunti Al-Khair Foundation’s broader humanitarian efforts, which include education support, youth empowerment, livelihood development, and emergency relief interventions across Bauchi State.
Community members and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, noting that such acts of generosity help strengthen bonds among different faiths and contribute to lasting peace and social cohesion in the state.
