Wunti Al-Khair Foundation Commemorates World Health Day with Community Clean-Up Initiative

Date Published

In celebration of World Health Day, the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation sponsored a major environmental sanitation exercise on 7th April, 2025, clearing a long-standing refuse dump in Shagari east, opposite Garkuwan Bauchi residence, Railway road Bauchi. The initiative, aimed at promoting public health and environmental sustainability, brought together volunteers, community leaders, and health advocates to restore cleanliness and prevent disease outbreaks in the area.

The exercise, in collaboration with Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency, targeted an abandoned dump site that had become a breeding ground for pests and posed serious health risks to residents. Equipped with cleaning tools, waste disposal trucks, and protective gear, the team removed tons of waste.

Residents expressed gratitude for the intervention. Local leaders praised the foundation for its commitment to sustainable development and urged the government and private sector to support similar initiatives.

One of the residents, a medical practitioner, highlighted the dangers of improper waste disposal, including cholera, malaria, and respiratory infections.

The initiative aligns with the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation’s broader mission to improve living conditions through health, education, and community development and economic empowerment projects.

The foundation encouraged residents to maintain cleanliness and urged local authorities to provide regular waste disposal services to prevent reaccumulation.
