Date Published
The Bala Wunti Tech Fellows (BWTF), powered by the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, have launched a two-day school outreach campaign titled “BWTF Cyber Smart Initiative,” aimed at promoting cyber safety awareness among students in Bauchi State.
The campaign kicked off on October 15, 2025, with a visit to LYS Academy, and continued on October 16, 2025, at Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Bauchi. The initiative is part of BWTF’s broader commitment to digital literacy, responsible online behavior, and youth empowerment in an increasingly connected world.
During both visits, the BWTF team engaged students in interactive sessions, teaching essential cybersecurity tips such as protecting personal information online, recognizing phishing attempts, creating strong passwords, and promoting digital responsibility. The sessions were designed to help students navigate the internet safely and confidently.
The campaign also featured quiz competitions where students demonstrated their understanding of cybersecurity concepts, with winners receiving prizes as motivation to remain “cyber smart.” In addition, the team distributed educational books and branded water bottles to participants as tokens of encouragement.
Speaking during the outreach, a representative of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation emphasized that the initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to empowering young minds through technology and education.
“The Cyber Smart Initiative is designed to build a generation that understands not just how to use the internet, but how to use it safely and productively,” the representative said.
Students and school officials expressed appreciation for the program, describing it as both enlightening and timely, especially in a digital era where cyber threats are on the rise. With the successful completion of the two-day outreach, BWTF reaffirmed its plan to extend the Cyber Smart Initiative to more schools across Bauchi State, ensuring that more young people are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe in the digital world.
