In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, the EmpowerHer Initiative, powered by Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, in partnership with Tech4Dev Initiative, organized a school outreach program aimed at creating awareness among young girls on the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and technology-related skills for their future empowerment.
The outreach program, which took place in Bauchi, brought together students from FOMWAN Model School, Federal Low-Cost, and High Tech International Academy. The event featured interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and motivational talks designed to inspire young girls to pursue education and careers in science and technology fields.
Speaking during the event, representatives from Wunti Al-Khair Foundation highlighted that the outreach aligns with the Foundation’s vision of promoting inclusive education and empowering young women to participate actively in innovation, leadership, and community development. “Empowering girls with STEM and tech skills is not just about education—it’s about equipping them with tools to shape the future,” one of the facilitators emphasized.
The Tech4Dev team also engaged the students with real-life stories of women breaking barriers in technology, encouraging them to develop interest and confidence in digital skills that are becoming increasingly essential in today’s world.
Participants expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to learn and interact with mentors and facilitators. Many of the students noted that the sessions helped them see new possibilities for their future careers and inspired them to dream bigger.
In her remarks, a representative of the EmpowerHer Initiative appreciated Wunti Al-Khair Foundation and Tech4Dev for their collaboration and reaffirmed the commitment to continue supporting programs that promote gender equality and digital inclusion for girls across Bauchi and beyond.
The EmpowerHer school outreach serves as part of ongoing efforts to bridge the gender gap in STEM education and ensure that every girl has the knowledge, confidence, and support to thrive in the digital age.
