Lagos, Nigeria \u2013 The inaugural cohort of the Bala Wunti Tech Fellowship, a program of the Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, recently concluded a transformative trip to Lagos, solidifying their status as rising stars in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. The five – days visit was a comprehensive blend of networking, industrial exposure, and a successful showcase of their skills at the prestigious GITEX Africa Technology Expo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the trip was the fellows’ participation in the GITEX event, one of West Africa\u2019s largest technology and startup gatherings. Here, the team behind Edsynk, a promising educational technology startup born out of the fellowship program, showcased their innovative solution to a wide audience of investors, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts. Edsynk’s exhibition was a testament to the fellowship’s mission of nurturing homegrown talent and fostering entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a move to gain firsthand insight into the workings of a successful tech institution, the fellows paid a visit to the headquarters of AltSchool Africa. The interaction with AltSchool’s management and staff  provided invaluable mentorship and a deeper understanding of the processes behind building and scaling a tech-focused educational platform. This visit underscored the fellowship’s emphasis on continuous learning and collaboration within the wider tech community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The itinerary also included a visit to the Lekki Conservation Centre, offering the fellows a moment of reflection and a chance to appreciate the importance of environmental conservation alongside technological innovation. The visit served as a reminder of the need to create sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a dose of real-world industrial experience, the fellows toured The Mad House, a renowned visual storytelling and documentary photography hub. Led by industry titan Bayo Omoboriowo, the visit provided a unique perspective on the intersection of technology, art, and creative entrepreneurship, inspiring the fellows to think beyond traditional tech roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lagos journey culminated in the closing ceremony of GITEX at the iconic Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island.
